Coffee beans and slow moments ☕️

I had a little thought while food shopping today, about creating more opportunities to slow down and be present.

I was about to add the instant coffee into my trolley when I realised I hadn’t used my percolator in a while. Lately, I’ve just been microwaving my oat milk and using instant coffee for a quick morning brew.

But I remembered how different it feels when I grind the beans, heat the milk on the stove, and brew my coffee in a pot. It turns into a moment of reflection and intention - a small ritual that brings purpose to my morning. It almost feels like I’m brewing a little potion which feels like magic itself.

So instead of going for convenience, I chose the coffee beans - the version that felt like intention and calm. Yes, it does take a bit longer, but it feels far more meaningful.

Where in your day do you create space to slow down and add intention, even in the little things?

I love this so much. I have starting leaving my phone in the other room when eating my breakfast (I’m yet to implement this to all my other meals but I’ll get there lol). I noticed that whilst eating my oats, I’d be scrolling social media and responding to messages, and I hadn’t enjoyed my breakfast or even acknowledged I was eating it. Taking this time to mindfully eat means I not only feel more full and satisfied, but it’s such a joyful moment for me that I look forward to each day, because if you know me, you know how much I loveeee my oats for breakfast lol.

I also listen to affirmations whilst doing my skincare/hair in the morning. It’s a YouTube video that plays in the background and I just repeat the affirmations in my head as I get ready. Again, this feels like a ritual to me, every morning grounding myself and preparing my minds, thoughts and beliefs for the day ahead 🤍
